About Puente 12 Elective

Welcome to Puente 12! This course is the capstone of the Puente program at Mt. Eden High School and designed to help prepare you for your next chapter after graduation. Over the course of the year, we will focus on individuality, culture, and community and seeks to answer the critical questions of who am I? What has made me who I am? and How can I bring my knowledge of my essential self to the improvement of my community? This writing-focused course will use reflection and journaling to better prepare for new life changes, use college and scholarship applications to better situate academic futures, explore various community events and service projects, and form a capstone of the Mt. Eden Puente experience.

The Puente model combines academic enrichment, counseling, mentoring, and community support. Puente includes an enriched curriculum that integrates Latinx and multicultural literature into the MEHS core curriculum, and builds a college-bound community of readers and writers.
